All these initials. What the hell do they mean? And, which initials will will the day?
Well, in the just slightly more distant future all these initials will be pretty funny. I think the longer range future of porn is extraordinarily easy to predict.
What might be more difficult is predicting what the meantime steps will be called. Perhaps it’ll revert to just the umbrella term porn. I think this is quite likely. Anyway, this is a piece for The VR Porn Standards Project.

Techsex acronyms
So, let’s go over a few acronyms.
- VR virtual reality porn
- AR augmented reality porn
- MR mixed reality – this term will also be displaced
- XR extended reality – this term is attempting to be an umbrella term. I expect it to be displaced within a few years
- AI artificial intelligence – this AIN’T getting displaced!
- Metaverse this terminology and concept is destined to be short-lived
The truth is…it’s all really VIRTUAL reality. In the literal sense…it’s VIRTUAL.
And, it’s funny because what you call something doesn’t really matter. What matters is the actual thing. But, there’s going to be semantic battling happening in the meantime.
AI merging into VR
But, what’s happening right now is the very beginnings of VR and AI merging. It’s artificial intelligence that will ultimately be incorporated into VR porn: making a better VR porn. It’s not the other way around. It’s not VR being engulfed by AI. VR isn’t going anywhere for a while yet. It will simply get more sophisticated. In the larger world, of course, AI will exist as an independent entity that will have countless applications as it’s incorporated into everything including eventually our own brains.
And, a very first step for this process—of AI merging into VR porn—is the advent of the AI image creation/manipulation programs. These things are a lot of fun, and I’m going to be writing specifically about my favorite one. The purpose of this article is that it’s a footnote for the other one. I don’t want that article to get too bogged down with this footnote.
So, what’s the footnote?
The footnote is that we can see the gleamings of how AI will work into VR. Virtual reality porn will be enhanced by artificial intelligence. One of the first baby steps in this direction will be importing content created with artificial intelligence into the VR headset. I am fairly certain this will be the first application of significance we’ll see.
Why?
This opens up so many possibilities. The analogy would be like going from cable TV to Netflix. By that I mean the consumer will have much more control over the content viewed. It’s not a perfect analogy.
But, I believe the first applications will involve the pervy consumer generating his own porn via AI programs on his desktop computer.
What sort of content?
You know, the possibilities are endless. And, no doubt some of them will be found objectionable by some. And, the laws will come with time. But, one of the first things I see happening is simply using artificial intelligence to alter and modify existing 2D pictures of interest and doing a 3D SBS type render. This is already basically doable. You can do insane stuff with AI NSFW image creation and modification. They call the 2D transformation a 3D asset.
So, that’s the foundation for some further modifying such as face swaps and the like. And, simply using AI to create the 3D 360 degree models based upon a series of photographs. And, then you’re just a click away from generating a nude. So, this can basically be done right now, but it’s complicated and I’m not aware of any consumer-simplified, streamlined application to get the photo modified into a polished 3D asset and into the headset with a few clicks. But, that’s certainly on the horizon.
From there, next will be using AI to render that into video. Then AI to attach an interactive personality to the avatar. Then, you know, it just keeps going…
Conclusion
That’s enough for now. This was terribly brief, but it puts the basic idea down. This will serve as the needed footnote for the piece I’m about to write concerning one of the AI image creation and manipulation applications that I particularly like.
